A film’s letter grade won’t always fit my system perfectly, but it’s a good general guide. Here’s a typical example: a niche, acceptably-made genre film would typically fit in the B- category. It earns a B rating for its general competence, but gets knocked for targeting a specific category of people to which neither I nor the majority belong.
A: Masterpiece
A-: What We Go to the Movies For
B+: Great Movie
B: Recommend
B-: Would Recommend to the Right Person
C+: Just Ok
C: Forgettable
C-: Bad, but Tolerable
D: Bad Movie
F: Horrible
